Your first step to the sea

«It's up to You
to choose the leading wind for your sails!»

(from song of our youth)
Where to start?
Yacht rental is in many ways like car rental.
You will need international license of any international system:
RYA( England), ISSA( England), IYT( Canada).
Our school works with ISSA.
Know first that your training will differ from those at school or university – the sea will be your examiner. Buying a license will not do here.
The stages of your Path

amateur levels of yachting
Zero Level
Now you are more a landlubber.
All of us have been like this.
That's all ok!
Godspeed!
Yacht Crew
7 days ~ 525 euro
(exact price is stated in the Calendar-Schedule)
If you've found a free week, bought topsiders, glasses and gloves and arrived to us in Turkey or Montenegro (we have two bases)
All the week we have ridden you hard and now, by the end of training, we have made you a useful crew member – a real seaman.
You are given both theory and practice symbiotically – just like in real life.
You are thought not only by the trainer, but also by more experienced students who passed a week ago what you are studying now.
By the end of the week you are already able to knot, perform the captain's commands while mooring and dropping of the anchor, spread and lower sails and if necessary, to steer at mooring and at sailing (though usually it is the captain who does it). Nevertheless, you still don't have all captain's knowledge. That's why your license of Yacht Crew does NOT let you to a yacht on charter.
Inshore Skipper
This is a basic skipper level allowing you to charter independently.
more 7 days of training ~ 525 euro
(exact price in the Calendar-Schedule)
You've found one more week of your time or decided to spend two weeks since your zero level.
Now you are studying the command block: detailed sailing map navigation, sailing directions, sea law, rules of the road, rules of IRPC-72, code phrases and rules of marine radio communication, and emergency actions. You are also training your command voice and learn how to manage the crew safely and effectively as well as giving advice to landlubbers.
After finishing the course, you pass three examinations: theory, practice and marine radio communication. In case of success we honor you as a new captain entering our narrow circle.
From this moment on you can take a yacht up to 24m on charter and sail during daylight & nighttime within up to 20 miles from the shore shelter.
We can say that this is an analogue of Class B Driving License, which is suitable for short independent sailings. 90% of our students stop at this level and enjoy their new opportunities.

So, the INSHORE SKIPPER IS THE LEVEL YOU NEED!
Captain's practice
It usually takes 1-3 months.
You have already received your license and can take a yacht on charter. Organize your friends, take money from them and rent a yacht. And carefully explore new uncharted horizons!
Do you need help? – We will help you.
Plan an interesting heading, catering and entertainment – then you will be followed again and again.
At this stage your task is not only to pay off the cost of your own charter, but also try and test your own 800 captain's miles into your logbook (yachtsman passport). It is an indirect proof of your experience and pass to the next course.
Out of interest, you can have a look at the next professional levels
Next stages of your Path

Offshore Skipper
7 days ~ 1200 euro
(exact price in the Calendar-Schedule)
You decided to go extra miles. Good on you!
The goal of the course Offshore Skipper is to train skills of safe sailing during hours of darkness, practical training of crew survival at night and managing basic mooring operations independently, independent managing of a yacht, in narrow waters, in high winds and on the speed.
The course will also widen the permit to manage a sail vessel on the high seas by giving a details theoretical and practical training in tide and flow prediction related to solving practical problems.
After the course you will be able to sail far including night hours, but not to join the ship officially or pass an ocean yet.
STCW 95
5 days ~ 350-1200 euro
It is an international course for all professional seamen: from a cabin crew member to a captain of a multi-decker liner. It includes theoretical training and group practice in the field of fire fighting in an oxygen-breathing protective mask in the shipboard labyrinth, stopping of panic, individual rescue and rescue of others in emergency situations, first medical aid, trainings in a diving pool, evacuation to the rescue raft.
Certificate of completion is issued by a state commission. After passing of all standard tests it is possible to be recruited as a seaman officially.

Sailing Instructor
2 weeks of the course ~1580 euro and 4 weeks of practice
(exact price is stated in the Calendar-Schedule)
Those who reached this level have realized that their destiny and the sea are at one now.
The job of a trainer in a sailing school is the highest ambition of any young seaman.
It is year-round work as a trainer on the Mediterranean, possibility to choose the most convenient schedule, a salary amounted to 2000 euro per month, daily communication with new people and the ever-living wine-dark sea.
These are the carrots of the job that are known to many.
Well, what is the other side of the coin?
Circulation of faces, ports and cities, daily life on water, lodging in the saloon without any hint on privacy, almost no away days, almost no opportunity to get some free space away from your funny and curious charges, a must to be always (even if you are sick) in good shape, mentally resilient and kind to everyone, even to very strange students distorted by modern civilization.
Feel equal to it? Go for it then!
Master of Yacht Professional
It finally removes restrictions on remoteness from the shore and wind and wave situation but doesn't give right to ocean passages.
It also qualifies for employment.
Master of Yacht Ocean Professional
This is the top of captain's mastery.
Higher is only the caste of trainers, who teach and examine Masters of Yacht Ocean, trainers of all levels and certify high-quality schools and close schools violating rules.
Masters of Yacht Ocean can plan and perform ocean passages professionally.
Such captain is like a precious stone for any ship owner.
CALCULATION OF COSTS
How much is training for an Inshore Skipper?
Skipper Training expenses - appr. calculation
Skipper Training expenses - appr. calculation
We have calculated absolutely all expenses...,
Ok, let us add about 250 euro for a reserve – just for unexpected expenses.
Now we've got a subtotal giving food for reflection...

But let us remember how much we spend for various bits and pieces, useless things and social self-positioning?

While here you will receive real knowledge and impressions completely changing your mind and probably the direction of your whole life in future.

Wrap your mind around it while spare time.

SIC If you don't have enough money or time you can divide your training into two one-week visits
WHY WE DON'T SELL CERTIFICATES?
In order to go on the sea certificates are needed
In order to get back you need your knowledge!

3. Getting ready to the yacht trip
Now you have to:
- buy air tickets (ask us for nearest airport);
- send your photo to us (light background up to 1,5Mb)
- pack all necessary equipment;
- buy health insurance if desired;
- Arrive on board on the stated day from 6 pm of the starting day (it is Saturday as a rule) to 10 am of the next day (it is usually Sunday)

Arrive on board of the yacht
Now you check-in on the yacht and meet your captain-trainer and future crewmates. There is no reception desk on a yacht or nearby – you should go straight onboard and meet your trainer. If you come late at night, please, make no noise as everybody is sleeping. Just find free room and take it.
If you come to economy class alone, choose a less snoring cabinmate. Generally, be ready that you may have to share a cabin with somebody and not necessarily of the same sex. It is a common thing on the sea and in the yachtsmen world.
The trainer will lead an introductory briefing on life-support systems of the yacht and measures of safety use of electricity, wet cabs and gas-stove. The first evening usually has an informal atmosphere with socializing in the nearest restaurant of the marine.
5. First morning onboard. Organizational issues.
Next morning, at 10, the captain leads a lineup and check roll-call in order to see if all students have arrived onboard. Then the trainer suggests the team to elect a purser and organize a general fund to rabble a dock-side shop and bunkering with provision. The crew goes to town for shopping. Having arrived in the town, the trainer takes passports from everybody and[sells all into slavery] goes to the port authorities to get transitlogs –sailing permission from local government.
6. First sailing
After shopping and dinner, the trainer gives instructions on exit out of the marine and the yacht puts to the sea!
The first sailing makes newbies of all ages fall into euphoria. The first sail spread independently gets etched in memory like the first kiss, and almost nothing of theory is remembered by guys on the first day. The whole day we sail, motor, throw inflatable loaded fender overboard and rescue "persons". Inspired and excited we get back to the marine. Meals.
Healthy sleep.
7. Serious training begins.
The morning starts with mooring theory, learning to make sea knots and practicing coiling lines in bays and targeted casting off the lines. When everybody gets technique, the trainer explains the physics of the yachts' motion under the motor in forward and backward speed and suggests testing all of that in practice. The day's captain is elected and charged with responsibilities. He stands at the helm and under the guidance of the trainer leads the yacht on the sea.
The first three days the yacht gets back to the base marine and only after the trainer have tested the skills of the crew, he announces the start of the coastal passage along the picturesque coast line.
8. First week of training
It's a week of daily theoretical and practical sessions. You get new experience and develop practical skills. We pay considerable attention to moorings, accurate turns including turns in confined space, mastery of setting sails and skills to make turns on the wind without hesitation. We start practicing navigation, arranging sailing routes and getting familiar with entering ports, marines, and anchoring in secluded bays.
Every day you will go on the sea and learn step by step moving to the sea coast. In the afternoons we have a little nosh on the yacht, and in the evenings, tired and satisfied, we go out to nice and inexpensive places known by the skipper.
By the end of Friday, we come back to base marine. Here the yacht crew passes the first examination. The examination's goal is to give you clear understanding if you are getting well or should try harder.
On Saturday, those mates who came just for a week, leave us and new students join us.

9. Beginning of the second week
The second week offers you to study the captain's knowledge unit. You are told about the lights of ships, light towers and navigation signs. Beside this, you start studying the Sacred Scripture of every captain – International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (IRPC-72). The trainer comments different situations according to the principles of sea-law. The students pass the course of radiotelegraph operator and main phrases for communication with ports, marines and other ships. Those who don't speak English, transcript the phrases with letters of their mother language.
We use classical methods of teaching: the use of devices and gadgets with GPS while training is NOT allowed. During the sea passage you will have: a sea map, a compass, a bearing, a pencil and a ruler. By using these simple instruments invented by first seamen you will learn to bear a course accurately and lead the yacht to the destination place. In your future independent sailings, you will be able to use electronics, but our knowledge will help you if electronic devices go down unexpectedly.
Every morning a captain on duty makes routing for the current day, puts the yacht on the sea, get the bearings, observes and controls accurate performing of his routing in practice. He also takes decisions for clear passing of other ships and matching of active surface of sails to the course, wind and weather. Each evening he puts the yacht to a selected harbor for a night's repose. The trainer interferes while serious mistakes only and small imperfections are discussed ashore.

P.S. The trainer has no obligations to drill knowledge into your head, just use your brain, for when you go on the sea, no trainer will be near you, you will have nobody to ask for advice, and it will not be comfortable to flip through your manual, without mentioning the fact that it will look awkward in the eyes of those invited by you. That is why, you should ask all your questions during the training and grill your trainer until you understand and get it right. This is his obligation, his job, for which he is well paid by the way.
10. Offshore night passage
In the end of the week, before the examination, the trainer divides the crew into watches and starts one long offshore passage at night time. The goal of the passage is not to teach to sail at night – it is too early for this level of knowledge – but to free the students off careless attitude nights on the sea even while fine weather. Students see with their own eyes huge steel ships passing by at a speed much higher that a small yacht can afford and spreading into multiple small lights. Now you see the ship on the horizon and just 10 minutes later your yacht may get on the path of this monster. So, you will pass it only by accurate specifying the size and the course of the vessel by its lights. Future captains see how weirdly the entoptic sensation of dimensions changes during the night on the sea. Far things seem to be near and vice versa. In one word, this is precious and unforgettable experience for future independent sailings.
Avid fishermen always have chance to catch and cook a tuna!

11. Examination
On the last Friday of the two-weeks course the future captain passes three examinations:
- for the patent of an Inshore Skipper (theory - in writing)
- captain's practice with sailing
- test of radio operator VHF competence (in writing)
Theoretical examination has 56 questions, for each you have to write a reasoned answer. It is not a test with answer options. All questions are taken from the lectures given during the training. There are no questions that wouldn't have been discussed at sessions. Each question scores from 1 to 5 and in order to pass the exam you need to get a certain passing score.
Practice is demonstration of two kinds of mooring as part of crew (you are the captain), MOB, and all turns of the course under sail in turn single-handed. Only small mistakes are allowed, when one and the same action may be done in two ways without affecting the result. Expressly prohibited are the mistakes leading to damage of the vessel or danger to life of crew members.
The process takes the group the whole day and by the evening the trainer calculates the scores and announces the results. Those who score enough are nominated by the school as captains Inshore Skippers. Those who fail the examination get the right to refund their 150 euro that would be spent on issuing of their certificates (promo up to 23.02.2018).
Friday night, we celebrate our young captains in a restaurant! Within two weeks, people that were strangers to each other, who studied together, have become close friends. Exchange your contacts as when you decide to go on the sea, you will have fellow-travelers who studied with you and will take your hint at once in any situation!
After that the trainer asks everyone about their departure hours and orders local transfer for each student.

Next morning, at 9:00 you say goodbye to the Trainer and to the Yacht. They will teach other students who came to the sea and you will have far sea roads ahead of you!

Have a happy journey!
12. Formalities on issuing certificates
Students who passed the examination can pay for issuing of their Skipper and VHF licenses right at the place or from home. The certificates are issued in England in the long run. After 6-8 weeks they are delivered to the school's office and the school informs their proud owners. Then you give your address for delivery and several days later an envelope with the certificate reaches your home or work (you will pay to the delivery man for his service upon receipt).

You and your charter company will be able to check the validity of your certificate on the website of ISSA.
13. Your first yacht charter
Here you are having all your papers. With them you can rent a yacht in any water area of the world.
Now the most important thing for you is to reinforce your skills. The main mistake that 50% of our course leavers do is that they tick off, then plunge into their routines and completely forget our recommendation to charter a yacht within next three months.
If you don't do that, your reflexes will not be fixed and in due course you will realize that you are not sure if you can do again the things you easily demonstrated on the yacht.
That's why use any opportunity to practice!
You can find a yacht on the Internet or directly in the company, but if you want to save 10%, just let us know and we will help you :)

Why do you choose our school?
Advantages that are hard to be argued
We are conservatives
We are conservative in a good sense.
We do not plunge our students into hypnotical sleep, we do not lie about "new and progressive methods", we do not ask to set up apps and study while driving to work, we do not teach them to lay tracks in smartphones, tablets and other interesting gadgets — we are sure that all our students will cope with their devices independently. But first of all, they should learn to think for themselves and take decisions all by themselves.
We give the marine science through paper maps, light towers, bearings and compass just like it was given 10, 20 and 50 years ago. This knowledge will stay with you forever. Even if your smartphone dies or your deck plate is struck by lightning.
Our course leavers can not only google or peep the information — they already know everything and immediately take informed decisions!
Standard long training
Unlike our competitors, we do not reduce our training program and do not teach newbies for skippers just for one week...
The fact is true: no matter how many physicians would gather around a woman, she will not deliver a baby earlier than after nine months. And if she does it earlier, the baby may be not healthy.
This is the case of education too. Until the student gains his knowledge through suffering, feels it on his fingertips and records his skills in psychomotor reflexes – he can't be called even a young skipper and moreover he can't take responsibility for other people.

We never cut corners on quality!
In our school, the standard duration of practical training is 14 days, which fully allows to gain all necessary skills. While many schools devote to practice, as the most expensive part of the training, just from 4 to 10 days.
Easily geographically accessible
GoSailing is the only school working across two visa-free countries: Turkey and Montenegro. There are regular and charter flights from all European countries. In case the customer gathers the whole group (or pays for it), he or she can choose any water area of training by preference.
Token advance payment
Upon the order of the training you make just a prepayment – as a rule, it makes 100-200 euro per one training week – and this will be confirmation of your intent. 80% of payment for the training is made directly on the training yacht. If you book your training less than one week before the start of the training, no prepayment is needed except your flight tickets.
Transparent price list
Only in our school, most options are included into the cost of training and there are no other unmentioned expenses.
No marketing, no tricks, no commercial deceit!
Lifetime certificates
Our course leavers received skipper certificates of the ISSA system. Unlike the course leavers of other systems, they will not have to repay each 5 years for reissuing of their certificates.
Certificates of RYA and ISSA have no expiration date!
Direct contact with our director
Only our school has no land-based girls with painted nails. Over the telephone, in the chat and on the website, you will always get a reply from our director, or, in extreme cases, from any trainer. For us it's easier to pay for roaming service than for mistakes of our employees.
We work all year round!
We do not depend on winter sleep of charter companies. In the hot summer and in the mild and wet Mediterranean winter with strong winds, you can come and take the wheel of our yacht. And this is our many years' experience!
All levels of captain's permission!
We are not one of hundreds of schools that train captains of beginner level only! We provide the whole range of training courses: from seaman to offshore and trainer's levels.
Theory and practice => on board
Theory and practice are not separated in time and are given simultaneously during one sailing course. Theory materials can be studied remotely before the training starts as it's always easier to remember than to learn. We do not take any extra payment for this
We do not boat sardines in a tin!
We say "no" to "squeezed but pleased" on board!
- Each student can choose a convenient class of service and the number of students taking the course together on board. Economy class has up to 6 students (double lodging). Business class has up to 4 students (a cabin for each student). VIP is the whole yacht for one student and his family!
Second chance is for free!
Our school is proud that almost 100% of our students pass exams successfully. That is not because we give out certificates to any dabster. If you fail your exam after two weeks of training, you will be able to come for a week while low season for free (second half of November-March). This will allow you to polish your skills and pass the examination.
Brush up on your skills? - 400 euro
Only our course leavers can return on board of the yacht known by them and brush up on their knowledge and, what's more important, practical skills, before the start of new charter season just for 400 euro(on our special offer)

If you've forgotten out and away!
If you've forgotten out and away!
If you got your diploma but haven't practiced for several years and forgotten OUT and AWAY, especially for you we have a one week course to refresh forgotten knowledge (do not confuse with repeated training), which will help you to make "TOTAL RECALL" of what you were taught in our school.
